Catholic Bishops call for peace in Imo State and congratulate Hope Uzodimma
- Nigeria’s Catholic Bishops have prayed to God for an immediate end to the insecurity ravaging Imo State and the country as a whole
- The Bishops have said that the government led by Hope Uzodimma deserves peace to carry out its duties in the state.
- The bishops also congratulated the governor for the new Orlu-Owerri dual route they have taken
Oweeri- The Catholic Bishops of Nigeria have said Governor Hope Uzodimma deserves all the peace his administration needs to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Imo State.
This was the position of clerics at a launch in honor of the College of Catholic Bishops at the Banquet Hall of Government House Owerri recently.
The bishops who held their second 2022 plenary at Holy Trinity Catholic Cathedral in Orlu said their journey to Owerri via the newly constructed dual route was a magnificent site to behold.

The President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, His Grace, Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, who is also the Catholic Archbishop of the Metropolitan Province of Owerri, thanked Governor Uzodimma for giving them the opportunity to have lunch with his firm.

He said the Governor’s generosity is known to all levels of the Catholic Church in Nigeria.
Governor Uzodimma took the opportunity to remind the bishops that his government is open to supporting the Church.
He urged the Bishops to keep in mind that the government under his leadership belongs to them, insisting that it is a special blessing from God that he is the Governor of Imo State.
In attendance were the Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Wase; Deputy Governor of Imo State, Professor Placid Njoku; Deputy Chief House Whip, Nkeiru Onyejiocha.

Meanwhile, the Imo government has called for the arrest and interrogation of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) spokesperson, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, for claiming that voter registration in Omuma, Governor Uzodimma’s home district, was bloated with fictitious names.
IMO State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba made the call on Friday September 16 during a press conference, saying that:
“Ignoring Ugochinyere’s spurious and seditious outburst will be tantamount to condoning criminality.”
2023: INEC removes more than a million people from the electoral lists
Legit.ng previously reported that more than one million potential voters had been deregistered by INEC ahead of the 2023 general election.
